When you first walk in (with or without a clipboard), Steven Daily's paintings zoom out at you immediately because they're just so drippingly sinister and mystic-looking. Bejeweled fetal skeletons! Two-headed mutant lambs! Creepy demons! Skulls and occult symbolism everywhere! These are the exact types of paintings you'd expect to see if you were roaming around a Freemason temple all alone in the dark, completely naked (except for a fez, of course), and accidentally wandered into a super-secret drawing room. You'd look up and there you'd have it: Stephen Daily paintings all over the walls!

"Dichotomy" is my favorite because I'm convinced there's an interesting story going on here. Check out the two skeleton guys on the very left. One is wearing an eyepatch and the other is wearing a monocle. Obviously, they both have afflictions in their right eyes, right? Well, that's why they're buddies/best friends and are always together. Now shift your eyes over to the guy in the back row, all the way at the end on the right. Note that he also has an eye affliction but he's wearing an eye patch on his LEFT eye. The right-eye-afflicted Freemason skeleton couple HATE him and shun him from their group for having his affliction in the wrong eye. Or I guess it could be that they just don't like him because he's a huge jerk. I don't know. In any case, they don't want to be anywhere near him. I asked Steven Daily if that's what was really going on and he didn't confirm or deny it. Suspicious!

January 6th, 2011

“Covenant”; a solo exhibition of new art works by one of our oldest friend’s and signature artist, Steven Daily. The opening reception takes place this Friday, January 7th from 8-11pm at the Le Luz De Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles. Steven worked with To Die For on two of our most popular selling styles called “Geisha” & “The Panther”.
We will be making 100 limited edition bandanas with Steven’s art to give out to the first 100 people who attend the show on opening night. We’ve witnessed Steven work day and night to prepare for this show. The time has come and we are very excited to spend time with his pieces in person. Come show your support!

In my formative years, my parent’s moved from Southern California to the Midwest-Southern-Block of these United States. It was during this time that I had my first exposures curious marvels such as Shriner Parades & Freemason Lodges. This was an all new world to me, a world of secrets, cloaked in mystery, and filled with things talked about behind closed doors
For the past ten years I have been researching these socie…ties of secrets, conspiracies on the global elite, One-World Government, ritual-based orders, and theories around these ancient fraternities.

About a year ago My Land lord took me to his friends house whose husband had died and was an art teacher at UCLA. She pretty much gave me free rain over anything i wanted.I'll tell you this if i would have had a truck and a storage unit.
I would never had to by art supplies.
I found this old box of Higgins wood block inks in tube and glass.
brand new in the package from the fifty's. so today i was doing my usual warm up.

Following the successful 10-day Los Angeles Auction Preview, The Vader Project is ready for auction. The iconic collection features 100 Darth Vader Helmets re-imagined by today's most notable artists.

The Vader Project will be on display at Freeman's Auctioneers and Appraisers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (July 5-9) for the final opportunity to view the helmets in person before they are sold at auction (July 10). "The result is astounding" said Simeon Lipman, Pop Culture Specialist at Freeman's. "The sale will give members of the public the chance to purchase unique artworks made from these iconic symbols of the movie industry by a number of well known artists including Shag, Marc Ecko, Tim Biskup, Frank Kozik and many more." The Freeman's Auction will take place July 10, 2010 at 12:00pm Eastern Time at Freeman's Auction House in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania preceded by a 5-day exhibition there July 5-9.

When I lived in Giorgia as a Teenager.
I experienced lots of weird things, oddities, Taxidermy, Things in jars, weird sayings and names,
As a young man, the south was Like going into a time machine after being born in southern California.
This painting Is based on An old saying about women who could charm bees.
"Bee charmers" The idea is to elaborate on that, and show the supernatural aspects of these so called charms they possessed.
I hope you enjoy my first in the series of "liquid alchemy".

Well another comiccon has come and gone.
I want to thank Jeremy, Dirk, Mat, and all of Dark horse, for all the
love! You guys are amazing, and I am thrilled to be working with you.
Nerd spring break!
It was a blast, I met so many people.
I got to hang out with all my close friends. Wheather it was short and
sweet, or drunk all night in the streets.

war director, and creator meeting,
One Joss Whedon meeting,
One four am illeagal pool party,
Two pizas, three snoring roommates,
One sky walker son, three art shows,
Two panik attacks, two encountetrs with chris gore, twenty gwar passes
Three signings, one missing bathing suit, one wheelchaired ewok, one
dead nerd, one groto super hero meeting, two party shuttles, one
marine special ops soapopera actor, one petty cab race, three brass
pollishers, one altercation, three sightings of a spritely stan lee,
two vertigo elevators, one service elevator, one heart shaped pubes,
one reversed happy trail,.
Two hundred stickers, four diferent room partys, all outside the
convention center. comic con09!
My print porcelain from Acme prints debuted to stellar reviews. So
much so that they sold the proof!
I had three art shows, during con.
I could only make one.
And what an extravaganza it was!

I haven't been on line in a while.
I awoke last week to my modem being fried.
After hours of negotiations and passing of the proverbial buck.
I finally found a way to beat there system.
step one stay calm.
step. two. use the word unacceptable.
step. three having an i phone makes the hold time(3 hours) bearable.
step.four always ask for a manager.
step. five wait it out.
After hours of waiting the operator got on the phone and said disgruntled "you still there? Hold on." I assumed he thought i had given up.
I ended up getting a new modem for free. and a 90 dollar credit!
I WIN BIg CO. America.
So I have been feverishly Painting away on my painting for the upcoming show at Copro Nason. "MONSTERS" the Gracious Travis Louie is curating it. Nearly finished.
So including the above mentioned.
I have four shows coming up.
and comic con.
So I have been swamped like man vs wild in my studio(Dining room)
for the last couple o months.

Well,
I am in negotiations with go daddy right now, about loosing stevendaily.com.
It's a big-ol mess. Which I'd rather not get into right now.
So, I have decided to start up my blog again Till the problem is resolved.

Tomi and I, have been working through the night for the past couple of weeks.
Which In turn, has made us really productive and nocturnal.
I also curated a second Gag me with a toon this year which was a huge success.

Amongst artists born in a certain period of time there is an affinity for the animated iconography of the 1980’s. In April Meltdown Gallery presents GAG ME WITH A TOON, a new works exhibition that will showcase the work of more than twenty creative souls who have been tainted with the neon fruit stripe of Morning in America. Utilizing everything from the saccharine funk of Strawberry Shortcake to the disciplined fashion fervor of the Baroness of Cobra these artists will explore the sketchy in-betweens of animated femininity. In the gallery we shall weigh the sins of Scrappy-Doo and balance them against the irreligious inclusion of Godzuki, Baby Plas and 7-Zark-7. A measure will be made of thunderous barbarians and thunderous cats and of friends both super and amazing. Be ye short and blue or bionic, a real he-man or just your average joe, you will find yourself transformed after having stood amongst the time-displaced art of these stellar talents.

Steven Daily, Born in Riverside California, Steven Daily did a considerable amount of moving, between California and the American Mid-west, during his formative years. It was during these years that his passion for art was sparked and began to flourish like wildfire. After graduating from Bolsa Grande High School, he attended Riverside Community College, and later transferred to Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Unsatisfied with the schooling he had received, Steven took it upon himself to develop a style as individual to the world as he. Steven has done just that. Graffiti played an enormous role in his learning, teaching him patience as well as color theory and composition. In 1997, propelled by the advice of a former professor, and a meeting with a Disney executive, Steven concluded that the time had come to become serious about his career as an artist. Today, Steven’s work is extremely stylized, and his paintings are emotionally evocative. He has shown in numerous galleries nationwide. He has created a sizeable body of work. Mr. Daily is extremely busy these days lately being a children’s books illustrator also working on several exciting new projects, so you can expect to see much more from him in the immediate future.

Well, It's been a while since I updated.
First of all, i want to thank those who helped out and supported by purchasing art and toys.
I love your gutsies
This last month was pretty, interesting.
Tomi and I have been struggling this past couple of months since the car accident.
It's been kinda like, camping. except were not out side,there is no tents, or animals, and were not freezing.
I broke my toe, about three weeks ago. and Have just been able to walk, and or get around. as of lately.
I broke it the stupidest way possible. While carrying this epic sandwich that Tomi made me. Full of turkey, Provolone cheese, and egg on a baguette o goodness. I stubbed my toe on the couch leg, which is steel.
And broke my pinky toe. The break made me instantly nauseous so I was double sad.
After a while I managed to eat the sandwich, because I couldn't let all that goodness go bad!
After a few days my whole foot was bruised black and all ugly.
You cant do anything for a broken toe so I just stayed off of it and taped it to my other toe.
But it's not all bad news, Tomi and i have been super productive.
working non stop. its been a blast. We are completely nocturnal now but hey were getting shit done.
I have finished three paintings in the last two months, done several sketches, and a commission!
Lots of exciting things on the horizon. A light at the end of my camping tunnel.
So to speak.

Well to tell you the truth, I haven't been doing much since con but Bioshock(one of my favorite games of all time) and Halo 3 , I even threw in a little Castle Vania Symphony of the night on xbox live arcade. Yep been taking some much needed xbox time. Man Bioshock was amazing!

First of all.
I would like to thank, everyone that came out to see me, and support my art, at San Diego comic con. The reaction you guys gave me brought a tear to my look'n balls!
It was awesome meeting all of you. I am sorry if I didn't get to get to hang with some of my old, and new friends.
I have been going to con since 93 and let me tell you it was insane this year.
every day was sold out and it was packed to the gills!
It may have seemed like I was being too cool, but in actuality I was signing three times a day. and by the end of the night I was just beat! So if I didn't call you I am truly sorry.
Plus it was really hard to hear or feel your phone in there.
ON to the fun stuff.
We had a blast at comic con, drank way too much met a lot of important people, made some new friends, and hung out with old ones. Got to see my buddy Jeff Soto who is a very old friend, and amazingly talented artist.
He came by the booth to say hi. Mondo, Henry, Josh, and some cool Guys from bloc28 came by also.
I barely saw the con, with all the signing I had to do. I actually only bought one thing.
Besides the Peter the pirate Squid book, I had a vinyl figure come out with toy cube, who were amazingly cool!

The Lucas arts, Gentle giant, Dark horse party was insane!
All the people from dark horse were so rad! It was real cool to put faces with emails.
Beautiful venue, great crowd. Paul Rubins, Frank Miller and David Arquette were there!
Tomi, Roman, and Chris got to meet Paul and David. I was off being a social with some friends.
I sadly did not get to meet him.
I was happy for Tomi because she loves her some peewee!

More drinking and consumption of food was had.
Okay, I am going to end on a funny story.
So, it was my last signing at toy cub. It was running over by an hour, and I had to leave to get back to slave labor to sign for peter the pirate squid. I had fifteen minutes to smoke and pee. When you sign they give you lots of bottled water. Luckily I found a bathroom at the end of the convention that was not as stinky as the rest of them that made me throw up in my mouth,and my eyeballs melt out of there sockets.
I get to the less stinky one and there is no one in there. So I go up to the urinal and start doing my business. When this little kid comes in. He must have been Eight 0r nine. Wipps his skippy out and begins to do his business. He the starts leaning over to look in my swimsuit location. So I am trying to ignore this kid because I have seen way to many law and order episodes and don't know the legality's of talking to kids while at the urinal! He says, "you are holding it wrong!" Then looks back at his own business and makes a sad ahhhhh sound. I almost fell on the floor laughing.
I then met roman for a smoke and told him the story.

Limited edition print on vintage paper, Hand numbered and signed!
Any of you who know me, Know that I have been insane with work the last couple of months. First off I finished "It ate billy on Christmas's" last page last night around ten. (Woo hoo!) I had a little transfer problem from my graphite paper. So I had to bust it old school and transfer it old school.(from my mind!) Which I think turned out better than the sketch. Roman and I have been in development with this property since Late 2003! I also got to participate in a amazing group show for gallery 1988's, Crazy For Cult.Show, over fifty artist painted from there Favorite classic cult movies.Also, I finished peter the pirate squid and a limited Print for the con, and limited bones and mocker pins, which will be free with purchase of print.I participated in a collaboration with Disney.(Life Long Dream) I redesigned Mickey with a new fresh style. (Some loooooooooooong legs and beetle boots!) They loved the painting so much that they bought it out right. also did a t-shirt graphic for them which will be out after con. They are making a whole line of bloc28 stuff that includes pillows, toys, stickers, record slip covers, sketch books, hats, and who knows what else? They are mad limited so be on the look out Last but certainly not least I have been collaborating with DR Romanelli, on some groovy stuff. Also I almost forgot I did a collaboration with Klim Of big shot toy works, on a figure with toy cube. They will have blanks for sale @ there booth with some doodles on em by yours truly.
I will be signing my First book at San Diego comic con next week. So excited for the world to see this. I put alot of heart into this book I hope y'all love it.

So much to talk about.
Well, I finished Peter the Pirate Squid It was such an amazing experience creating this world With Roman.
The Vader project show has been amazing, I got to do an interview for star wars insider.
It's like a dream come true to be able to work with star wars, on any level really.
Also Roman and I have an interview coming out for Helio magazine.
New designs for lamb of god and I know I'm gonna get shit for this.....HIM.
But it was actually a fun project.
This month with an undisclosed date I will be doing an invite only show with Disney,
called Bloc 28. This show Is an honor to be in. Craola and myself wil be in the show, along with Legendary graff writers Slick, mear and sf based artist David flores. I was stoked to see my painting made the flier.
I will be @ San diego comic con all four days stop by the slave labor booth and say hi.
Also I will have a collaboration vinyl toy with toy cube and klim from big shot toy works debuting there.
It's called Sheep in wolfs clothing.
Well back to work, This book isn't gonna finish on it's own. All though I welcome the idea.

The good folks over at www.vinylpulse.com already have pics of the show up.

So we were asked to keep quite about this show since august of last year!
Finally, the press release came out today! This is my dream show, i can remember going to the drive-in, with a bucket of pioneer chicken in my dads pick up! leaving the day glow eighty's behind for at least 2 hours.
I think every boy in my generation loves these three original movies so much, even if there in the closet with there nerdy side.

May 16, 2007 (Los Angeles, CA)-- The Vader Project, a reimagining of the iconic Darth Vader helmet by some of todayâ€™s hottest pop and underground artists, will have its World Premiere May 24 to 28th, 2007 at Star Wars Celebration IV, a landmark event being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. The five-day event is expected to attract more than 25,000 Star Wars fans from around the world (www.gencon.com/2007/swciv).

The Vader Project is presented by Master Replicas Inc. and curated by Dov Kelemer of DKE Toys. Kelemer gathered 75 of the hottest underground and pop surrealist painters, artists and designers to participate. Each artist was given a Master Replicas 1:1 scale prop replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet used in the Star Wars films. Each helmet served as a blank canvas for each artist to paint, design, mash up, and customize.

Artists include Shag, Paul Frank, Mr Cartoon, Tim Biskup, Frank Kozik, Marc Ecko, Amanda Visell, Tim Biskup, J. Otto Seibold, Gary Baseman, Joe Ledbetter, Robbie Conal, Jeff Soto and many more. Many of these artists jumped at the chance to lend their talents to one of the most iconic pop culture characters in film history.

Keith Bornholtz, Vice President of Consumer Marketing for Master Replicas, said, "We are pleased to provide this excellent canvas to this group of talented international artists and introduce them to their new intergalactic fans."

"This could not be a timelier event," Kelemer said. "The pop surrealist/
lowbrow/graffiti/designer art scene is exploding around us. A canvas is what you make it, from bunnies to cows to toilet seats. The â€˜platformâ€™ group show has been around, and we have seen it all."

Ugly Doll co-creator David Horvath said it best: "Itâ€™s Darth Vader!!! Itâ€™s the most recognizable character in the universe. After this exhibition we don't ever need to be in a platform show again."

After the premiere at Star Wars Celebration IV the plan is for exhibition to travel to museums, galleries, and events around the world. The helmets will then be offered publicly at auction. Details will be announced later.

We all find inspiration in the strangest places. Artists are inspired by stains on the ceiling, writers by misheard conversations. And now, from Roman Dirge, creator of Lenore (and we're a little afraid to guess what that was inspired by) comes a salty tale of a seaborne squid who draws his life mission from... pirates.
Peter the Pirate Squid pairs Dirge's writing talents with the keen artistic abilities of Steven Daily, telling the tale of an eight-legged cephalopod who wants nothing more than to rule his seventh of a sea with an iron hand – er, tentacle. And so, with a faithful crew of oysters, seahorses, crabs and other eyepatch-minded denizens of the deep, Peter sets forth in search of booty, baubles and grog-toting adventure!

The same size as a Little Golden Book, Peter the Pirate Squid is sure to be a hit with existing Lenore fans, younger readers, and kids of all ages.

Review of "I am eight bit"

The third annual I am eight bit show, Was ridiculously PACKED to the gils
Fourteen hundred amazingly patient people. Waited in line to see this eight bit inspired art show.
From what I could see. I counted three to four movie crews including, MTV, G4, COIN-OPTV, and CNN.
The pieces were stepped up from last year. Not to say that the pieces from the previous year were not good.
But the artist seemed like they really got into it, And gave it there all!
The show went on from seven to 1200 am and stayed packed the entire time.
So the first pics and blogs are beginning to surface. I didn't take any photos not cause I am lazy, but cause it was impossible to actually take photos. Let alone breathe or walk!
